Legalities

To enter Canada to hunt, with few exceptions, all you need is a valid Passport. US Citizens still seem to be allowed to cross into Canada with proof of citizenship and/or Drivers licence. You should have our Hunting contract handy in case the Immigration Officer wishes to confirm your intentions. Russians and some other Nationals may require a visa to enter Canada. It is the Clients responsibility to make sure he can enter Canada. If in doubt, please check with the nearest Canadian Embassy.

By Law, all Hunters must be in possession of the proper Licences before any hunting has begun. In addition to the Annual Hunting Regulations, Rocky Mountain Outfitter enjoys a special Government quota on several Game species. This quota we can sell to Residents of British Columbia and/or non Residents. Therefore, our Clients do not have to worry about draws. Every person which is not a British Columbia Resident is considered Non Resident regardless if he/she is from another Canadian Province or from a foreign Country.

Non automatic Hunting Rifles and Shotguns can be brought into Canada by filling out a Customs declaration upon entry into Canada. Pistols and Revolvers are not legal for hunting in Canada, you wont be allowed to bring them into Canada.

Reasonable amounts of Ammunition for your legitimate Hunting Rifle and Shotgun can be brought into Canada. We recommend 40 rounds of Rifle Ammunition for the average hunt. European Caliber Ammunition is extremely hard to obtain in Canada. If you plan to bring a European caliber like an 8*68, 9.2*62, 9.3*64, 9.3*74 or even 7mm vom Hofe, check with us upon booking so we can try to have some rounds in your caliber on hand just in case your Ammunition gets misdirected during Transit. While you travel,s keep the Bolt, Gun and Ammunition in separate to discourage theft during transit.

Some Clients prefer to rent a suitable Rifle or Shotgun from us. If you wish to take advantage of this extra service, please give at least a 6 month notice.
